QUETTA: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Tuesday said the people of Balochistan question Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s claims of development.
“There is only unemployment and hunger in Balochistan,” said Bilawal while addressing his party workers and added that the incumbent government does not care about the people.
He said that the resources are coast of Balochistan are being used but development is taking place elsewhere in the country, adding that PPP had always soothed the wounds of the masses of Balochistan. He said that Main Nawaz Sharif always claim development in Balochistan but no development is discernable in the province.
He said that Balochistan is a land of brave people and he is addressing brave people in the province, adding that it is very unfortunate to observe that the masses in Balochistan are poorer comparatively in the country as no potable water, roads and proper arrangements for education in the province. He said that the people of Balochistan were not born with this ill fate, they also deserve development, adding that the policy makers of the PML-N have not learnt a lesson from the past. He said that they have always kept a handful of Chieftains in government for serving their own interests which has resulted in the violation of the rights of the masses, leading them to insurgency.
He said that the former dictator Musharraf not only carried out atrocities in Balochistan but also damaged the entire country, adding that it was during his tenure that Shaheed Bibi was martyred. He said that former president Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari tendered apology to the masses of Balochistan for the past mistakes and introduced Balochistan package, 18th amendment, and gave authority people of Balochistan over their resources under 13th amendment.
He said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a project of Asif Ali Zardari, adding that he laid the basis of CPEC by taking Gwadar back from Singapore and giving it to China. He said that Balochistan and KP share the larger chunk in CPEC and if they are not given their due share in the project, India would be bold enough to interfere in the affairs of this province.
He said that the masses of this province are being allured by the anti-Pakistan forces, adding he questions the rulers if they will not award the rights to the masses how would they eradicate poverty.
He also lashed out at Nawaz Sharif and his government in strong words. Towards the end, he announced mass contacts with the party workers at divisional level.
Referring to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the Sharif family for alleged corruption, the PPP chairman said Nawaz could be seen panicking after being interviewed by the investigation team.
