Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s speech:

Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the greatest leader after the Quaid-i- Azam: Mian Manzoor Wattoo

Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, wile addressing the big function of 48th Foundation Day of the PPP held here today as Chief Guest presented three resolutions which were unanimiously adopted. The resolutions stated that since there was no danger to the political system and now the PPP would play the role of an effective opposition, requested Chairman Bilawal Bhutto to come to Lahore for longer stay, and minus one formula was not acceptable.

He said that the PPP was the name of an ideology for the total empowerment of the people of Pakistan because people were the source of power which was the one of the basic principles of the Party.

He added that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto granted the people the right of vote that brought out the politics from the drawing rooms of the elite to at the door steps of the masses. Now, the candidates aspiring to be elected as members of the Assemblies have to go to the people to get elected whereas previously people were inconsequential because members of the Assemblies used to be elected by the BD members, he added.

He recalled that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the greatest leader after the Quaid-i- Azam who was a beacon of courage and statesmanship. His greatest contribution of giving the unanimous constitution of 1973 to the nation that included the preamble that no law will be made in the country against Quran and Sunna. It was his contributions for the cause of Islam that begs all descriptions.

His international stature as a leader was recognized the world over and especially in the MuslimWorld to whom he suggested to use oil as weapon. His contributions for making Pakistan a nuclear state saved the nation from the blackmail of the neighboring country that would have been the worst by any measure. He was eliminated because international players did not tolerate to see him creating their competitions, he added.

Paying tributes to the workers and leaders of the PPP, he said that their commitment to the Party and leaders had always been unblemished and leaders and workers of other parties were no match to them. The leaders of other parties succumbed to the pressure and were scared of jails and they signed an agreement and preferred to go to exile instead of living among the people in the country.

He said that his children were equally committed to the ideals of the Party and were keen to work as dedicated workers to promote the policies of the PPP.

He demanded that the Judicial Commission Report of Model Town incident must be made public in which Punjab Police killed 14 PAT innocent workers and injured more than one hundred.

Condemning the government’s anti-farmers policies of this government he demanded that the gimmickry of the Kissan Package should be stopped forthwith. He regretted the government’s policy of importing maze when sufficient quantity of the commodity was available in the country. The government has not abandoned the anti-farmers policies yet, he maintained.

He said that new taxation Rs, 40 billions were not acceptable and warned the government not to impose such taxes at the behest of IMF.

While referring to the foreign debts the government had resorted to he said that with this speed the loans would be around one hundred billions dollars by the end of the tenure of this government thus mortgaging the future of the future generations.

At the outset Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo deeply congratulate Mr. Ashraf Bhatti and Lahore PPP for making excellent arrangements on the Foundation Day of the Party.

Earlier, Senator Aitzaz Ehsan, Sardar Latif Khosa, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Samina Khalid Gurkhi, Naveed Chaudhry, Aurung Zeb Burki, Jehan Ara Wattoo, Faisal Mir, Barrister Amir Hassan, Shahida Jabeen delivered their speeches in which they expressed their resolve to work very hard to reclaim the past political glory of the Party under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Co-Chairman Asef Ali Zardari.

Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari’s message on Foundation Day

Asif Ali Zardari says PPP aims at making Pakistan a welfare state

Says religion based laws will not be allowed to be misused

Pays tributes to political workers on PPP’s Founding day

Islamabad November 29, 2015: In a message on the eve of the 48th founding day of the Pakistan People’s Party on Monday Co-Chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari has vowed that the Party’s struggle to build a progressive, egalitarian and democratic society will continue unabated despite odds.
“I wish to reiterate that the Party aims at making Pakistan a welfare driven state- a state in which the motivating force and rationale for state policies is the welfare of the people and nothing else”.
Bhuttoism is the name of an ideology and the founding day is an occasion to rejoice and celebrate in that ideology. It is also an occasion to renew our pledge to empower the people, emancipate women, integrate the Non Muslim minorities in the national mainstream and strengthen democratic institutions and to serve the masses, he said.
It was this ideology of Bhuttoism that the previous PPP government succeeded in restoring the unanimous Constitution of 1973, opening doors of political reforms and participation in the tribal areas, taking head on the militants, launching a massive poverty alleviation program, making the workers share holders in state rune enterprises and uplifting the lot of minorities.
The journey in the pursuit of ideology must continue. We will continue our struggle to ensure that religion based laws were not misapplied to stifle dissent or haunt non Muslim minorities or hound vulnerable and weaker sections of the Muslims in the name of faith.
Paying tributes to the political workers he said that democracy has survived and flourished on their sweat, blood and tears. It is because of their sacrifices that dictatorship has not been able to take roots in Pakistan.
On this day I wish to reiterate that the epic struggle for safeguarding democracy and democratic institutions and empowering people will continue.
