It is highly inappropriate to involve the army in the internal polices adding the move poorly reflected on the politicians who initiated it , said Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo in a statement issued her today.

He said that the heads of politicians in general and of warring parties in particular should hang in shame for their failure to get the country out of the self-created political turmoil that had brought the morale of the nation to the knees. It reflects very poorly on the agitating politicians and the lack of this realization is more disturbing, he added.

He appreciated the sincere efforts of the PPP and Jamait-i- Islami leadership focused to break the deadlock but the instrsigence of the conflicting parties had scuttle their endeavors to the dismay of all of the people right across the poor country..

He said that the reported invitation to the army to play the role mediator reflected the immaturity of those who waded to do so.

He added that the army had been fighting the war of survival of the country and engaging the institution in the internal politics would divert its attention adversely affecting the war against terrorism to our utter disadvantage.

Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the army was deeply engaged against terrorists in FATA, Quetta, and Karachi and indeed in the whole country and rendering sacrifices so that the nation could lead their way of life according to their aspirations.

He urged the agitating parties to get out of their cocoon and care for the comforts and welfare of the people and let them off the hook of the siege. The result of their obstinacy is now earning the ire of the civil society at an accelerated pace, he observed.

Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo strongly called upon the government, PTI and PAT leadership to seek out common ground urgently and get the nation out of the torture that had made their lives miserable due to the hanging of pall of uncertainty all over the country.

He said that fair-minded people fail to understand as why these leaders were hell bound to inflicting sufferings on the poor people instead of providing them comforts by not doing thugs which were source of torture for them. People’s patience is running thin and it could spillover in the form of revenge, he cautioned.

Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the skewed up mid-set of the warring parties had caused huge losses to the economy, rupees value had depreciated and the trend was continuing, international financial institutions were not dealing us with respect. Above all, the image of the country has taken nosedive due to the Tamasha in Islamabad being played by the parties for the last many days. It must come to an end now as enough is enough, he asserted.

ISLAMABAD: In an impassioned speech in the National Assembly, Leader of the Opposition Khursheed Shah said his party would not bow down in front of undemocratic forces even if the government caves in. He was reacting to a move to invite the army to act as mediator to defuse the political deadlock over the twin sit-ins in the federal capital.
“An effort was made to put a black mark on the government,” he said. “Let them come in. Burn the parliament, burn the Supreme Court, burn the secretariat, but we will never allow them to burn even a single leaf of this Constitution”, said the charged PPP leader.
He said that democratic forces should not bow before a dictator and if any government is sent home, it never dies but remains alive. “Don’t be scared of a handful of people from the two union councils who threaten the parliament of 180 million people,” said Shah. “We have lost great leaders for the sake of democracy and we are ready to do so [again].”
Shah asked the military’s media wing, the ISPR, to issue a statement to dispel the impression and to expose the faces of those who misguided people. He said the government should act as per the resolution passed by the house. “We will stand by you like a wall of steel. We have played our role and will also play it in the future for democracy.”
Also addressing the house, Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai said the government should have clarified its position Thursday night if it had not approached the army for mediation. He asked the speaker not to prorogue the house until the issue is settled.

SHANGHAI: Former president Asif Ali Zardari said that PPP had serious reservations on the outcome of the 2013 general elections and PPP did not accept the results for two days. However, those who are staging a sit-in on the streets of Islamabad had accepted the poll outcome on the very same day.

“We could have also staged sit-ins but we accepted the results in the better interest of people and the country, as it was more important than the struggle for gaining power,” said Zardari while speaking at Shanghai Institute for International Studies on Thursday. “We wish that all the issues are solved through negotiations.”

He said that China has got access to warm waters through Gwadar Port — which is not welcomed by the rest of the world.
Zardari said that, “We have always wanted to have better ties with India but that’s a complicated matter as they are still practising Nehru’s nationalism policy. Both sides need to show flexibility for this.”
The former president said that Pakistan has no reservations over India-China ties. On a question regarding the withdrawal of Nato forces from Afghanistan, Zardari said that Pakistan will work to strengthen its neighbour and hopes that China will play its due role for bringing stability in Afghanistan.
Zardari answered questions about Pak-China friendship, bilateral ties with India, internal issues of Pakistani politics and other policy matters.
PPP Co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also addressed the gathering, saying that the friendly ties between China and Pakistan are six decades old. “Our policy is pro-China which has caused a positive impact on our economy.”
Both the PPP leaders also attended an investors’ conference in Shanghai and asked the Chinese investors to invest in the development projects in Sindh.

The incumbent government may lose the support of opposition parties in National Assembly after the clarification of Inter-Services Public Relations over Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif’s role in resolving ongoing political deadlock.
Talking to The Nation, PPP Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo said that his party would not side with the government but with democracy and constitution after the government’s decision to involve army in the process. He said that the government did not take political forces into confidence on the issue of COAS’ involvement for ending the political crisis and instead the PM denied it on the floor of the house, which was later clarified by the ISPR.
Wattoo cleared that Opposition Leader in NA Syed Khursheed Shah had stressed that ISPR should issue clarification over the issue. He stated that ISPR issued the statement and negated the statements of the PM and Interior minister. He mentioned that the government has failed to get support of PPP in NA after ISPR statement. He said Imran Khan has the right to give political call for achieving his goals but it would not be a good way in the field of politics. The government has been mishandling political issues and especially Model Town incident since day first, Wattoo added.
